Fuel or Ign. problem??

I have a 350 ci Chevy engine w/ a volvo dp outdrive. Here's the symptom; as i power up it feels sluggish and takes it time getting up on plane when it finally reaches 3000 rpm (my normal cruising rpm) it bogs down then rev's up past 3000 rpm and starts to pop at the carb. I'm getting frustrated with what to try next. I've replaced my fuel separator and regular canister filters. no evidence of water in fuel separator. i drained that 3 times and no water at all. I've bypassed my flow scan and 3 way valve to eliminate that. I tuned it up 2 weeks ago w/ new spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, exhaust manifolds and risers, oil filter and oil change. oil level is at normal range.(didnt overfill ). Changed out my pick up in the tank and cahnged my float for my gauge.(unrelated problem .fuel gauge not working)I adjusted my timing 6 degress btdc, thats where it was at just re-did it to eliminate that possibility.Fuel tank air vent isnt the trouble ran w/ gas cap off. I'm thinking it's the carb which is a holley 4 barrel. anybody have any more ideas what else to check? thank you in advance. sorry so long just wanted to get all my info out.

Pop at the carb is a lean conditon. Remove and clean the carb and install a complete carb kit.

If the timing is right, it has to be a lean condition as Trent said. Just wondering if that carb has a fuel filter inside of the fuel inlet connection ? As a side note, are you sure that the pump is supplying adaquate pressure and quantity to the carb ?

Thanks water1, Im gonna check to see if it has a inline fuel filter possibly clogging up the inlet. As far as the fuel pump I'll have to check that to, however its raining here today so i'm going fishing instead. gonna go put a shift in on the rip. thanks again and if anyone else has any idea's please let me know.

I'm with Waterone on this...look for an inline filter at the carb, and just toss it if you (and you should) have a good filter in line. I betting thats your prob.
