I think the cause of my black smoke when I go to start the boat after it has been running is my FPR. I cant find it tho. what I think is it, doesnt look like any of the new ones. Can anyone tell me where to find it on the 1996 Larson 220 SEI , 5.8L FL PHUE. I think its the Ford engine b/c the spark plugs are a pain to change and I had to remove the exhaust manifolds.
Out drive is the Penta SX.

I just rebuilt the carb today so i have not tested that. Replaced and took apart everything but the butteryflies.
The black smoke might also have been caused by my coil, which i thought was bad. Engine starts up on first crank when cold. but when hot the longer it sits 5-30min the closer it gets to not starting. If i start it right up after turning it off it starts back up ok.
Anyways I put a fireball coil in today as well.

I have a pick of what I think is the FPR, but its connected to the intake manifold, and on that line it T's off to the PCV Valve which is plugged into the Valve Covers.
Then I think the outlet or exhaust of the FPR is connected to the exhaust on the back of the engine... ???

Is that it above? It has a screen on the right side which is weird. If not what is this thing.?

Pictures would help on "what is that thing". Carb engines don't come stock with fuel pressure regulators.
