One more time I need help from my online mechanic friends.
Chevy Blazer 99 - 4.3 CSEFI Engine
The short - I need to replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator but the Haynes book is close to useless (no surprise there) indicating where the regulator is and the specific steps to replace it. I really dont need a step by step but at least I want to know what other gaskets I need to get. Once this vehicle is appart I have no other means of transportation so I want to be as sure as I can that I have the parts I need( mainly gaskets) that are subject to damage while replacing this part.. Any schematics, drawings or steps will be appreciated. The auto part was not able to help with that...
The long - This Blazer S-10 has over 230k and it is PAID FOR!!
The vehicle is hard to start if it has been sitting for a while. Usually, if I start it whiting and hour or two after I shut it off it start without many problems. Weather dont seems to have any effect on the ability for the system to start right away. Sometimes I have to use starter fluid when it gets stubborn. Since this morning, it will not start without the starter fluid. :-(
I used noids to make sure all injectors are getting power. Seems they are. I check for the fuel system pressure at the test port, it is 58 psi when the pump is on and the car is not running. Is about 54 psi with the pump and car runing. As soon as the car and pump is off it spikes to 62 psi then starts to fall, going to about 38 psi in about 15 seconds. After 38 psi it keeps going down but it does it very slow. Pump seems to be running fine per this readings. One the vehicle starts it runs smooth and with no issues. I get a 440 code every now and then but it dont seems to have any effect on when the vehicle becomes hard to start. Most everyone has advised to change the regulator so that is what Im doing tomorrow. Any advise into other parts are welcome if someone thinks the pump is not the #1 thing to change.
Thanks!!!
