fuel problem

I accidently poured about 4-6 ounces of simple green into my gas tank thinking it was gas after working on my motor. It's a square 30 gallon tank on a party barge. Any ideas on how to get it out would be appreciated. What would happen if I simply did nothing? All responses welcome. I'm thinking it is water based and might be sitting in a clump on bottom of tank. If so, I might be able to remove the gas line fitting from center top of tank, insert siphon hose, and try to pick it off the bottom. Any thoughts on that approach?

Re: fuel problem

The fuel will prob. break it down some. I wouldn't take any chances. Best to drain the tank the best you can and start over with good clean mix. Motors don't like household cleaning detergents run through them. Very bad on pistons, rings and piston walls.

Re: fuel problem

if its water based ( test in a bottle) the fuel will be on top of it ..if the tank is "square" and you can tilt it or the boat you can get it into one corner and suck it out

Suck it all out. It ain't worth the risk of damage it can do to the engine. Even a simple $12 manual pump from Walmart will do for that job and well worth it.

Re: fuel problem

Can you see in the tank? Did it disapate?Or clump up.If it's water it will settle in the bottom.
Loosen the tank and tilt it/Siphon off the green.
OR:::
You have a water/fuel seperating filter,this site sells them?Put one in and check it a lot??
Also,stove alcohol will absorb any water and allow it to burn.
