I am putting a remote fuel pump on my 58 sportwin. I am a parts manager for a john deere dealership and have access to many fuel pumps. My question is: Will a fuel pump off of a 20hp 4 stroke engine work on my 10 hp 2 stroke engine? Thanks for all your help.

Re: Fuel pump application ?

i assume you are talking electric fuel pump.... if so BAD JUJU. there is a reason that almost every outboard i can think of has mechanical or pulse actuated ones.
fuel line failure + mech or pulse actuated = small puddle of gas low risk.
fuel line failure + electric fuel pump = gobbs of gas= big puddle = KABOOM or at least crispy people.... have you ever seen how much gas spreads on water..... now add fire and try to get away

What runs a "remote" fuel pump; I don't think I've seen one.

A remote fuel pump is any fuel pump that does not directly attach to the engine. There will be a hose that attaches the pump to the engine rather than just a gasket between the pump and the by-pass cover. Back to my original question...will a 20 hp 4 stroke engine mechanical fuel pump work on my 58 10hp sportwin?
