I recently purchased a fuel pump diaphram kit from a local marine supply house that has always served me well. The kit was for the triangular pump used on many of the 70's and 80's motors.
Long story short, they sold me a kit that fit and looked right but the gaskets were just a little different. I figured they were now using some kind of universal gasket designed to fit many year fuel pumps.
Wrong! The motor wouldn't start or run and because I made several other changes at the same time (mistake), I almost went nuts trying to figure out what was wrong.
I guess the moral is to only make one change at a time and make sure the gaskets are an exact fit!
Cheers
