2002 19ft Four Winns -- Troubleshooting sudden loss of fuel. I can jumper 12V to the fuel pump and it works. Relay tested out OK. Looking for guidance on testing the diodes and physical location in the harness. Thanks for your help!

Possible there is an inline fuse in the system.
There could be a circuit breaker or a slow blow fuse.
Maybe the relay has gone bad???

Could be the alternator L2 terminal which drives the relay isn't outputting properly. Way more likely that's the case than a bad diode.

Start and run the engine up to about 1500 rpms or so and see if your getting a rise in voltage at the battery....

That may not do you any good because the L2 terminal can be dead and the rest of the alternator can still work.

Thanks for the helpful info. Determined that relay circuit is only seeing 9.5 volts from the orange line. If we jumper the fuel pump to prime the system and then start the boat we have a solid 12+ V at the fuel pump and the engine runs normally. This doesn't explain our initial problem where the fuel system quit under power.

Where does the orange wire run? The manual mentions an assist solenoid relay. Where is this located? Potential culprit?

Hi there Pratt99, welcome to iboats!:) As Bruceb58 mentioned it sure sounds like you have a partially defective alternator most likely at the L2 terminal. Probably at the alternator rectifier diodes trio which is all explained in the links below for you. The Volvo service manual is nice because it gives you some pretty good steps at repairing the alternator yourself if interested but Volvo doesn't sell any of the parts needed for a rebuild. You'd have to find the parts needed on your own or have a rebuild shop do it for you. Or there is always the option of new. The manual mentions with the key on, engine off, the L2 terminal should be 1-2 volts then jump up to 13-14 volts when running. Hope this helps, good luck.:)
