Re: Fuel pump inspection

Keith,

For the cost of the pump kit, which contains all the gaskets and diaphrams, just change everything.

Just be careful to replace the correct diaphrams. Some have holes in them, others don't. Don't mix 'em up.

Part number of the kit is 21-42990A4

Chris.

Re: Fuel pump inspection

The fuel pump operates by the suction and compression created by the up and down movement of the pistons in the cylinders, this causes the diaphragm to flex in and out which sucks in fuel then pushes it towards the carbs as the valve disc is raised.

Do have a repair manual? it can be ordered at the bottom left of this page

Re: Fuel pump inspection

Thanks EF, with the positioning of the pump I was wondering how it could be mechanically connected to the crank but as you have just pointed out it is vacum driven.

Regards Keith B..
