Out of the blue my boat wont start, just yesterday it was running fine. What i have narrow it down to is that im not getting any power to the fuel pump. when i turn they key the pump doesnt prime. i replace both relays and still no power, i ran 12v directly to the pump to see if it kicks on and it does. i took a meter to the wiring at the pump and reads no power. what else would keep the power from reaching the pump? Can any one help? Thanks

Is your lanyard in? If it is, maybe your Emergency Cut-off switch is having issues. Try by-passing it and see what happens.

That's OMC, not Volvo. You have the OMC version when VP and OMC were doing the joint venture. It was also OMC's last year of existence in the IO world. 1998.
The good news, is that most parts and systems are the same as Volvo.
Here is the Volvo manual for the EFI diagnostics. http://www.4shared.com/document/dG4wFSVg/7797454_BY_EFI_Diagnostic_GM.html?
After downloading to your computer, go to manual page 6-24 and follow the diagnostic procedures for the pumps not running.

I am also going to move this over to the OMC forum and fix your title to show OMC instead of volvo.

the lanyard will keep the boat from cranking, and its cranking.

Not true...at least for all the boats I've had. If the lanyard is not installed the engine will still crank but won't start. If the control is in forward or reverse then it won't crank (neutral safety switch).

In your original post, you said your fuel pump doesn't come on. Will the starter spin the engine? If so, is there spark?
