Fuel Pump OMC4.3

I just took off the fuel pump from a 1985 OMC 4.3L. Had black fuild coming out of the pump when I turned it upside down. It looked like a mixture of gas and oil, not sure. Anyway is this normal? <br /><br />Thanks again for all your past help.<br /><br />Greg

I replaced mine last week.It was a mechanical one on a 1991 omc 4.3.Mine had a lot of thick gooo coming out of the fitting for the clear line that goes to the carb.But nothing else.The pump was a bummer getting back on.Had to put some grease on the end of push rod for pump to get it to stay up.
