Fuel Pump Problem

Hey All - I am relatively new to the boating culture and I was hoping that someone could help me out. I have an 89 SeaRay with a 100 hp Mercury outboard. Idles great, but when I gun it it cuts out. If someone sqeezes the bulb while I gun it and continues squeezing, it runs great. Could it be the fual pump and if so - how difficult would it be to replace it? Thanks much

try a new primer bulb first. what yr. is motor?

Thanks for responding mellowyellow. It is also an 89 and I have replaced the bulb primer. Any other suggestions or ideas?

Check for air leaks...if none are found...rebuild the fuel pump. Instructions come with the new parts.<br /><br />TMD

Look for cracks...leaking fuel...smell...loose fasteners.<br /><br />TMD
