fuel pump problem...

Hello,

What controls the fuel pump relay on a 5.0 1993 volvo penta? Not completely sure on the year, fuel pump relay is on the left front of the cylinder head. Fuel pump won't work at all, nothing is tripping the relay... Any ideas?

Pictures, full model number or engine serial number is needed. 93 engines had mechanical fuel pumps.

I got the fuel pump working this AM... The engine was given to me for repair of a blown head gasket, after doing almost everything possible to ensure this wouldn't happen again, it blew another head gasket? I'm an experienced mechanic, with diesel being my focus. Any ideas about the head gasket issue and also any clue as to the spark plug gap on this engine?
