Fuel Pump

1977 70hp evinrude model #70773S<br />My question is should the screw on the outside of the fuel pump be screwed as tight as possible or is it a flow adjustment type thing. I don't know anything about this stuff, but my seloc manual is on its way. Thanks for any help.

appreciate you stoppin' in to look anyway. The reason i asked is because we were having all sorts of trouble with the motor, then we noticed the fuel pump was leaking(pouring) from around the seal. We took it apart and back together agian(problem solved) but didn't know if the screw should be tight. All this while we're trying to spary carb cleaner into it, make it pump water, and get the thing to rev up to full speed. Seems when one thing goes it all goes. But we're spirited little sailors.
