I got some fuel for my boat last year, and stored it in 2 25 liter metal tanks. Just mixed gas and oil, no conditioner. This year, my 75HP doesnt run well with this gas at all... Is the gas bad? How can I tell...

If gas goes bad after 1 year for my boat, why does my car that sat for 7 years still run on the gas that was in its tank? Also, my 4HP works fine on this gas as well...

Thanks for any advice/help i can get.

Re: Fuel questions/conditioning

It may work but the octane will be very low. The outboard runs at a higher RPM where performance from the fuel may be required.
My V-8 truck loves my old boat gas(its a lease/company car)hee hee

You may have some other problems with the motor but,low octane is no good.

Re: Fuel questions/conditioning

Your car has a whole lot more compression than your outboard to complete the burn of the fuel. Don't use it in either of your boat motors. You are asking for trouble if you do. Get some fresh fuel and be done with it..

I guess i have 50L of lawnmower gas now... i got some fresh gas a couple days ago, i will try it out soon to see if it helps.

Do you think an octane booster would help? Or is there nothing I can do for this gas now...

I will add some gas stabilizer as well this time.

Re: Fuel questions/conditioning

Just dump it in your car and go. It will be fine...
