fuel ratio in calif

hello all have 67 merc950ss runs on 50-1 was just wondering about this ethanol in calif. my motor hasnt been smoking as much these last few years and im getting worried about oiling, should i change fuel-oil ratio slightly like say 48-1 thanks all, great site, HAGD

40:1 is a good idea even without alcohol. Especially for a motor that old. I run 32:1 in my '74 inline 6. Too little oil = you're f***ed. A little extra oil = spend an extra $1 on oil.

So does this mean that you have the tower of power running again???

I'm a cheap *******...so I probably won't be using synthetic. :p I do have almost a gallon of Amsoil I need to use up though... ;)
