Fuel seperation... how to prevent?

After having been towed in, changing fuel lines, filters and clamps, draining float bowls and adjusting pilot screws to no avail, I removed the sending unit and began to remove fuel into a clear container for inspection. I found that the fuel had seperated into two layers - neither one of them good. I visited the internet where I learned about the cause of seperation. What I didn't learn was how to deal with it in the future. Can anyone help me? I have a 45 gallon tank. The tank is vented to the outside. I only add fuel stabilizer in the winter. I am afraid to fill the tank with fuel only to drain $250.00 in fuel and throw it away. What should be my best course of action?

If your fuel has ethanol in it use Startron fuel additive or the new stabil stabilizer for ethanol.

the old rule was to keep your tank full to help prevent condensation...the new rule with ethanol is to buy enough fuel to last 10 days to 2 weeks - use it up and buy fresh...check the info on ethanol at usafuelservice.com

Always use "Stabil" in any gas that is going to sit.
