Fuel shutoff

Hello,
I run my outboard in saltwater and I have noticed that many people pull the gas line and run the gas out of the carbs on the hose after a day on the water. Most outboards have an connection on the gas line that will allow it to be pulled off before it goes into the cowling. But my 94 Suzuki DT100 doesn't have anything like that, so I was wondering if it is a good idea to put something like a butterfly valve on the line before the cowling? I'm mostly worried about the fuel evaporating and clogging those carbs again between uses.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
Charlie

Re: Fuel shutoff

If you run a fuel conditioner like SeaFoam in every tank of fuel you don't have to worry about gunking up the carbs. Running a two stroke out of fuel is also running it out of oil. With a shut-off on the fuel line, it also causes a vacuum build up between it and the fuel pump which can be hard on the diaphrams.
