All of a sudden, my 1982 evinrude 150 has become extremely difficult to start when cold. Can’t say that it starts that much easier when warm either, guess it depends on how long it sits! A fellow slip mate who coincidentally, has pretty much the same engine, only an ‘83, came over and removed the engine cover, moved a little lever on a solenoid and a few cranks later, she started! He also showed me a steady stream of my gas/oil mixture soothing out of a nearby line! I believe i do hear a click at the solenoid when turning the key and or pushing it in! I believe I can take out and test the solenoid easy enough, but could it be that I just need a rebuild kit because probably the diaphram is shot? Would a dirty carb have anything to do with it?

No diaphragm. Simple, electronically actuated shuttle (needle) valve.
Make sure valve opens and closes when actuated.
Leaking (flooding) is a common failure mode. Replace orings

Nothing to do with the primer

Yes, in the video I watched, I mistook the gasket for a diaphragm! Will order a kit today! Thanks
