Fuel Tank Pickup tube clogging?

I have a 87 gallon Moeller tank in my 2004 Trophy and I'm wondering if it's realistic/possible that the fuel pickup tube could be restricted.

Has anybody ever experienced this with this tank?

Does anybody know if there is a filter/screen at the bottom end of the pickup tube?

I attempted to pull the tube up out of the tank to check it out, but the tube wouldn't come all the way out of the fitting. It slid up, but it felt like something was attached to the bottom end and wouldn't fit out of hole. That fitting (the one with the anti-siphon valve attached to it) goes into another fitting (like a sleeve) that seems like it may be permanently attached to the tank. I hesitate to crank too hard on the outer fitting since I'm told that the boat is built around the tank and the tank itself cannot be removed/replaced if it is damaged. If I break that fitting, I'm screwed.......

Anybody dealt with this?

Thanks,

Howdy,

Yes...... you almost certainly do have a screen at the bottom of the pick-up tube.

It's standard practice to have a brass screen on the bottom of the tube. They're frequently soldered on.

You should be able to remove it though. The whole thing should unscrew and come out. (the outer fitting)

Your boat is 6/7 years old and the screen in the tank is the first thing to check. It's the easiest thing to check.

Sure the anti-siphons not clogged and sticking?

Thanks all.

Checked the screen and it was good. Anti-siphon valve is brand new.

I had a bunch of water in the tank a few trips ago, but I siphoned it out and the separator is still water-free.

Ended up taking about half a cup of water out of the lines on the injector side of the HP pump (took the valve stem out of the pressure-check schrade valve and stuck a hose on it and let the pump run into a jar until nothing but gas came out). I assume it was pooled in the fuel cooler..... assume........

There was a lot of crud in the water I took out. Tiny pieces of sediment. Any thoughts about that?????

Boat still runs like crap, so the adventure continues.

Possible water in the fuel rail?
Fouled injectors?

Anybody have any experience with this?

Thanks

That much crap in the fuel rail? Injectors must certainly be loaded with it........
