Anyone know if it is ok to install a Moeller bow tank above the deck but under an enclosed bow? It would make it easy to vent right out the wood top and put a filling port there also. I have a 1976 starcraft holiday and wanted to add a little weight to the front. If this is ok can you still have a quick connect for portable tanks as well?

Not fully understanding what your setup is, I would say yes so long as all USCG safety requirements are met.

If the bow area is open to the air, or if enclosed then need a blower

Well it's an enclosed bow in that you can crawl in under it and it open that way but not exposed to the sun. I would like to take a 19 gallon Moeller bow tank and put it up front in the enclosed section then run the fitting through the top part it would make for an easy install and give me weight up front.

This makes sense to me. Just remember to install an external tank vent on high on the side. Splicing in a small gas can fitting will give you extra range, but I think you'd need a 1/4 turn shut off on the Moeller tank fuel line to insure the smaller tank gets the fuel pump draw.

Yeah that was what I was thinking. I just wanted to be sure and get others ideas on it. When you see tanks that are below deck install I guess they don't want them exposed to sun being the main reason they can't be above deck. Putting it in permanently with an in-line fuel filter and shut off valve so when I want to use the portable tanks as backup it will be possible. I might even get the fuel flow sensor from Lowrance to hook up to the Garmin network to see what the engine is really using.

For me that's an open environment, so far as air transfer, like a car port
