fuel tank problem

i have a 2005 regal 1800, the other day when fueling there was overfill but the gauge was only reading at half or below. i know i have a 30 gal tank but not sure if its in 2 parts.. after running the boat overfill went into tank, then attemptted to fuel it again and same thing happened.

sending unit problems?

Has your sending unit or guage been replaced? If so, and the new one operates at different ohms, it will not read properly...or if the original unit is corroded or going out, could cause the same issue I guess.
