.anyone have this problem and is there a cure.thanks, tom

Re: fuel tank problem?

I think the new ones don't have an automatic vent because of the new EPA regs. You need to unscrew the vent.

I talked to walmart and they said it has to go thru attwood for warranty and so far I can't get in touch with them.i don't find any kind of vent you can unscrew, but I was going to try one of the old tank caps with the manual vent and try that.

Re: fuel tank problem?

I talked to attwood marine's tech dept. and they told me that any tanks sold in the usa have to have the automatic vent and that swelling has been a real problem for them, also if you have a carb type motor it will cause flooding from the extreme pressure in the tank.he said he could not tell me what to do but from our conversation that if I could get a cap off an older tank with a manual vent that would solve the problem.thanks for all your help, tom

Can you just loosen the cap about 1/4 of a turn to allow it to vent?....

tried loosening the cap and the gas leaks out when on the water.ithnk the only way is to use an older cap or find some kind of one way vent to install in the cap.have to do some looking to see what I find.

Re: fuel tank problem?

Did a Google search on your issue

I recently bought a new 6 gallon Attwood at Wally World. It had no vent on the tank itself but the cap had the automatic vent which sucked. The tank would swell up like a balloon in the sun but still not enough pressure for the cap to self vent. I went to Gander Mountain and bought an old style cap with a manual vent for $5. It works great. I close the vent while trailering it and leave it open the rest of the time.Moeller cap

Got you a picture also. See the vent cap. Now $13.00
