This may be a bit of a dumb question, but anyway... I've got 2x 6 gallon (i think) gas cans that i use right now. My question is can i put a larger tank on my boat. I'm not sure if there is room under my floor on the boat. I would look but its pretty much saran wrapped for the winter. if there is no room there can i put a tank more towards the front of the boat? The reason being is 1.) i want a larger tank 2.) Im re-doing the interior and am not sure if there will be room to squeeze any more portable gas cans in the back. plus they are ugly lol. Any help would be great.

these are about the best pics of the interior

Re: Fuel tank

Nice looking boat and looks like there's room up front under that deck for a maybe 18 gallon tank, run your fuel lines hidden back to the motor. I'd use a slightly larger fuel line than what's presently on there, to ensure sufficient fuel flow through the extra length. The weight of the fuel up front may make your boat plane and ride better. I'd use a plastic or aluminum tank and clamp it down good so it don't slide around. Good Luck!

One other item, if you put your tank under the front deck you will need to facilitate some means of filling the tank with gas, maybe a filler tube, cut a hole in the deck with a filler cap or some other arrangement. Good Luck!

Re: Fuel tank

thanks for the help!! I just wanted to make sure that putting a tank up front wouldnt hurt how the boat rides/gets on plane. Sounds like it should help me though! Thanks again!

Re: Fuel tank

or rather than mount them up front, keep 1 6 gallon in the stern and stow another in the bow; switch out as needed. But I'd first look at 12 gallon tanks to see if you can fit one in the stern; it will take up less room than 2 6's.

Consider how you fill them and whether removable is better for you.
