Fuel usage

I have a 1963 40 hp evenrude and I wonder what the fuel usage is on the engine. The compression is 100 psi with new coils.After about 1 1/4 hours of on and off use at full speed I used 4 1/2 gallons of fuel. Is that too much fuel or is that normal. I am new to this boat. Sounds about right.<br />Average 2 stroke fuel consumption is about 10% of your horsepower or, in your case, about 4 gph.
