I have a 69 Evinrude 40, and use 6gal fuel trolling for a three hours is this to much?
Its on a 24' 1968 Kayot Captian pontoon boat with a lot of add ons, like aluminium cab with windows.

Re: fuel use

A newer carbed, 40 sitting at the dock, idling, that engine will burn about 0.4 gallons of fuel/hour. At WOT about 4.0, at cruise about 2.5 - 3.0 and trolling, who knows since you didn't say what speed you troll at. No engines of that era were economy champs so you might at least increase these numbers by 1/3. Heck gas was 20 cents a gallon back then so it wasn't an issue. I know -- I was there.
