fuel useage mercruiser 5.0

hello iam looking at buying a 2005 bayliner br 195 it has a 5.0 mercruiser just wondering what kind of fuel mileage i will get we do a little knee, wake boarding sometimes but just mostly cruise to a good spot for some swimming and cold ones .we currently have a 16 ft with a evinrude 70hp 3 cyl that can use up fuel fast if we are playing hard .. i would love the extra power but dont want to end up in the poor house . iam also lookin at the same boat with the 4.3. any info would be great....

My guess is the 4.3 will be about the same as the 70. ( very good)
The 5.0 will use a hair more but not enough to pay much extra for.

around 3.5 gph of average play - tubing skiing etc..... that's what i get in a stingray 190 with the 4.3 which for me equates to about 10 gallons a day, between swimming & floating.

$40 for a damn good day with my family -$ well spent.

The post above is a good example of why you want to look at the data yourself. 3.5 GPH won't even get a 19' Stingray with a 4.3L on plane.

However, if you include the time the boat's not running in your average like the above poster, you can make the numbers say anything you want. My 30' Searay with twin 5.7L also averages about 3.5 GPH for an average day's use.
