I have a rinker 270 express cruiser. When I came home today I noticed fuel running down the side of the boat. 100 here today...there is not a fuel vent by the cap. How should it vent? Worries me to have that much pressure...

From around the cap...folks on the rinker forum are saying that is the vent for the cap and it's doing what it is supposed to do...not to crazy about that!

If you filled the tank and it got hot out then the fuel will expand and come out the vent.
Mine does it all the time if I put too much fuel in and let the boat sit. Quite a bit can come out.

dont fill it up to the cap.

you have pressure because fuel expands when it warms up (just like nearly everything else)

so you over-filled your tank, the temp is now hotter and that expansion has to go somewhere

What Scott said. I had the same problem when I filled the tank to the top and the weather got hot. I installed a vent whistle that tells you when the tank is about to get over filled. As soon as it changes pitch I stop the gas. The tank may be a gallon or two from being completely full but it give the gas room in the tank to expanded and not flow from the vent.
