Fuel venting....

I have a 1984 140 vro evinrude. I recently was out on the boat when the bulb went completely compressed. I thought it may have been in the vent from the fuel tank but I put a piece of wire leader in there and it went all the way to what felt like a strainer of some sort. I then opened up the tank filler hole and that didn't really do anything either. Once the motor was stopped however the pressure equalized to where we could run a little longer. Then it would do it again. So I loosened the water seperator and that did the trick for a while but the problem still exist. Where else can I look on the fuel tank. Any info is appreciated...

tazman,

There is also (usually) an "anti siphon valve" on the tank. They are usually located at the outlet (to engine) of the tank. It may be actually part of the outlet fitting.

I bought a new bulb but didn't put it on yet and when I brought the boat out today the entire system worked fine so I am not sure what I am going to do.
