I was wondering was a sierra tall filter fuel /water separator with clear bottom bowl,to see water in gas or drain is a good system to put on 86 bayliner bass boat????? can this filter be mounted in back storage....or is it better to use a fuel / water separator with no clear bottom ??????? just filter ???

Better to use one with a separator and clear bottom, I mounted mine in the motor well, but now I am thinking of moving to inside the boat, as I notice the filter rusts. Even with the clear glass bottom, you only replace the filter and you can drain the bottom of the clear section of any water you see in it, or just do a drain to check the fuel.

The idea of a clear bowl is a good one.
It allows you to see if there is water in your system.

The down side. The more you put in your system the farther/harder it is to pull the gas through.
Your bass boat doesn't have a lot of room for a filter that's probably 12 inches long.
You'll need room under it to pull the bowl or drain the water.
You'll need a small particle filter before the fuel pump.
Wallyworld G-2 or G12 depending on the size of the fuel line.
I've had a water sep filter for as long as I have had this boat.
I've never found any water in the filter.
I check it every 2-3 months and change it yearly.
In salt water the whole unit needs to be replaced every 3-4 years.
