It probably wont cause air pockets, but...

Think of a fuel hose as a drinking straw. The longer the straw, the harder it is to draw a drink...

The only "loose" hose should be loose to let the motor turn without kinking the hose.

My little 20 year old 15hp Johnson drinks fuel thru a 20' straw.

Re: Fuel/water seperator ??

I am running mercury outboard (200 hp) with a 100 gallon tank that contains gas/oil mixture. After running 40 gallons of fuel mixture, my oil-water seperator began plugging very quickly. When I dumped out the fuel in a glass jar, I saw a fine particulate (looks like very fine grain sand) but when dry it has waxy feel. Any ideas what this is and would a different filter system extend the time between oil/water seperator changes?

It's time to clean/replace the tank and replace all your hoses

My MFG has a 40 hp Evinrude on a 14' boat with the tank in the bow. So about 17- 20 feet of hose is needed to reach from the tank to the powerhead. No problems with fuel delivery, and there is a water separating filter in the line, as way as a 3 way valve, and primer bulb. Its best to keep the hose as short as possible, but long runs still work.
