i have a 1993 ebbtide bowrider and during summerizing I noticed that there was no fuel water seperator system... There was a filter in the gas line with a napa part number on it, the local boat shop guy told me that this was not how it should be and sold me a kit to install the system now my question is I read the instructions and it says NOT to use it if the boat has a electrical fuel pump how would i go about finding out what type of pump I have??

Re: Fuel Water Seperator

You didn't post what type of engine, serial number (if it's a Mercruiser)

A 93 would probably have a mechanical fuel pump unless someone changed it.

If it's a Mercruiser you may find an online manual here--> http://www.boatfix.com/merc/mainmenu.pdf

If you're unable to determine what kind of pump you have by looking at the engine, it may be a good idea to pay a marine mechanic to install your filter for you.

More than likely, you already have a filter there. You only need to replace the element.

We need to know what engine, etc you have - not just what kind of boat. Mercruiser? Volvo? 3 liter? 5.7 liter? Year? Serial number? Those kinds of things. Then someone will be able to point you in the right direction. ;)

Your engine didn't originally have one. Just the inline fuel filter that is NLA. It was replaced by a fuel filter kit that has the housing, braket, filter and steel line to replace the inline. The part number is 807172A1.
