Hey everyone, I have read a lot of Bayliner posts over the years and never posted, until now. I just want to thank everyone for all the great advice and knowledge you all are willing to share.

I hope I don't upset any Bayliner diehards by showing what I did to my interior of the old '87 Bayliner Capri. I just had to get rid of the back to back seats and the awful motor cover. I helped my upholstery guy envision my dream and he made it happen.....all for $1200....he even made the captains chair by hand and it swivels 360 degrees....nice.

I now have much more storage, more room as I get all the stuff off the floor, better seating, and a cooler storage area (fits 48 qt. cooler) that lifts up and down and doubles as a swim step onto the huge sun deck.....awesome. I really couldn't be happier.

I added a home made swim deck 2 summers ago....frame made out of an old aluminum soccer goal the rec department was throwing away, and topped with a 6' plastic table top and cover piece of hydro turf. Best thing I've ever added to this baby, it is truly gold, for basically $150 for the welding and hydroturf.

The boat runs great now and the family loves the new arrangement.....I had to add a cheap wakeboard tower this summer and that has panned out very well too. I really love the way this boat rides in the water, very smooth.

Go Bayliner!

Thoughts?

Rich

Looks Awesome!!

What happens with the uneven weight distribution though?
Say 3-5 passengers; does it list heavily to port?
Or is there an assigned seating arrangement :D

Thanks. I thought that might be an issue, but there is virtually no change from the previous arrangement. My kids used to sit up front in the bow because everything behind was so uncomfortable....now they all hang over the sundeck watching the riders so it puts more weight in the back, but this boat rides really nice.

The swim platform is the best thing I've done to that boat. It is very simple. I actually cut out a few notches out of a standard 3 x 6 plastic table you can buy at your local Ace Hardware and it fit like a glove. The Hydro Turf is the key....makes it extrememly functional and comfortable. I'll show you a picture of the underneath here:swimdeck under.jpg

Very nice work. I wondered about weight distribution too. the swim platform is especially nice, I am looking into adding a used teakwood platform to mine at the end of this season with a 3 step ladder...age is catching up with us I am afraid and that addition would be very helpful to us now!

Re: Full interior remodel

is this the same boat i saw on baylinerownersclub a year or so ago? There was one there very similar but I thought the blue vinyl was a tad bit darker on that one. Had a very similar seating arrangement though. I like the frame under the swim step. Im gonna look into that. do you have pictures of the tubing mounted to the hull? did you just lag it with 3m sealant i presume?

No, this is a different boat. I got a lot of my inspiration from that one though, just added a few more things like my cooler storage underneath. This one was just finished a few weeks ago. I will try to get some pics of the swim deck, but yes I just lagged it in with the sealant. Worked great.

The swim deck is 3' and the sun deck is 3'. I'll try to get some pictures after I get back from Lake Powell next week. Thanks for all the compliments guys.

That is very nice looking. I have some interior work to do as well and contemplating trying out the bow seats myself as they are the only ones that are in dire need of replacing. Never tried it before but the 1995 Capri is immaculate all over just suffering with the bow seating being split and it drives me crazy!

I love the new set up of your seating if the uneven distribution doesnt mess with the ride, its great, looks like a miny pontoon seating alignment!

Re: Full interior remodel

Great job. My wife and I have a 1995 Capri. We need to restore the interior side boards. I see in the folds there are screws every 3-4 ft. if we take off these screws will the side boards come off. I heard of some horror stories from other boat owners....
