Wayne.... With the engine NOT RUNNING, spin the prop and put the engine into forward gear. Now, give the engine full throttle. Does the throttle butterfly open fully now?

Re: full throttle 9.5 questions

There is a scribe mark on the cam that slides/glides by on the throttle roller. That scribe mark should align with the center of the roller just as the throttle butterfly starts to open. The roller can be adjusted simply by loosening the screw that retains it.

;) did that already also maybe it does not open all the way ?? i mean its open but when i look down the carb throght at the butterfly it is not all the wat vertical.is it supose to be all the way open.or will i risk over reaving the engine if it is all the way open. i am not getting the boat to plane and i thought this may be my problem

Re: full throttle 9.5 questions

Wayne.... At full throttle, the throttle butterfly should be wide open (vertical). If all of the linkages are as they should be, and you say they are, it's possible that the throttle tiller arm gears are out of sync. That is, the gears are aligned improperly so that they jam before they can obtain the full throttle position.

Re: full throttle 9.5 questions

i will look alittle closer at it tomorrow .but i think its all the way up on the cam. the lobes up then is flat for about an inch that should be wide open throttle i think its on that flat part of the cam. i am also going to run it and see when i am at wide open throttle if i move the linkage to open the butterfly more if i get more rpms. thanks a ton joe. this is stumping me because i have another engine just like it and everything looks the same exept that 1 opens the butterfly to the vertical positions. the other engine does not open that far for some reason i have checked the shop manual.and even took messurements from the spare engine everything seems the same.this might be why i cant get on plain i might need the few hundred rpm's that i am not getting because i am not really at WOT
