Fuse Box

Alright so I bought a fuse box and was wondering can i just mount it up under the dash and connect a main + and main - to it and run all the other wires off it and just run those two main wire to the battery? Or do you want the fuse box by the battery? Anyone have any pics of there setup?

You can put your fuse panel in front(Most are), but make sure to run large enough wire to it from the battery to handle what you are going to run. Fuse it right at the battery, too. Probably a 20 Amp fuse would do you at the battery, unless you had a lot of electrics going on...

Would I use a inline fuse at the battery? All that is going to be powered is bow light, horn, and stern light and maybe a couple lights in the instruments, maybe later down the road a stereo, Im using 14 gauge do you think that will do? Also on the fuse box one side is ground and the other is pos right? Im running the grounds from the light, horn..ect to the ground on the fuse box and then on the same screw running the ground to the switch on the dash is this correct? Thank you for much needed help. -Brian

No, only pos (+) to the fuse box. One side is to the battery, the other side is to the accessory.<br /><br />14ga is too light, go with 10ga, IMO.

Ok i got it there is two main prongs on the fuse box but you only use one for the + and on the opposite side you plug all your acc. My only question is on the back of the swithes to the horn and light what plugs in to them? There is two prongs does one prong get the + from the horn/bowlight and the other prong go to the fuse box?

I just realised that you have two threads going on this topic, how about we stay here on this one!<br /><br />Yes, that's how you do it. And run the ground wire directly to the horn. Some horns are not insulated, is your boat aluminum?
