Just a piece of info. that cost me half a day...

Not sure if anyone has ever made the point to say DO NOT buy cheap fuel priming bulbs!!!

I had a cheap one on my outboard, temporarily...and after half a day of troubleshooting, etc... still could not get air out of my fuel line between the fuel/water separator (yes, it was full of fuel) and the motor.

Installed a new Mercury bulb(finally came in), primed the bulb, started right up!

What a joke those cheap bulbs are!!!

Re: FYI...cheap priming bulbs!!!

Anything I have purchased that has been made in China has had some feature that fails after a day or week. That being said, bulbs are the thing that we have been replacing the most this season. Most troublesome component. (But most of our troubles are from water in the fuel that has sat over winter.)

Re: FYI...cheap priming bulbs!!!

In my case, bought the boat, ran fine for a week or two.

Almost got stranded on the water, twice...
Took the boat to an outboard mechanic(great mechanic), after having cleaned the carbs.(3 carbs.)
Ran fine for two/three days.

Carb started flooding again... I took the carb. off, again. Found piece of junk in needle seat(needle wouldn't close all the way).

Installed a "real" filter, fuel/water separator. Filled the filter with fuel, got the fuel to the end of the fuel line before going into the motor. But, kept loosing prime. CHEAP BULB!!!

Literally installed the new Mercury bulb, and fired right up/ran with no problems...
