FYI for bellows

If you store the boat in our out of the water, put the foot all the way down. Your bellows will love you for it. An OLD (70+) Merc man told me that.

He is right, thats the way they were made, takes the stress off them.

Not to be argumentive but... If your bellows is so stiff that leaving it flexed with the drive up would cause issues, it's probably time for a new one. Seems to me, it's going to get stiff either way.

That said, I store mine in the down position because it seems like the right thing to do. Not convinced it'll last longer that way but...

Storing down does something even more important. It doesen't let water collect in your lower unit. No water = no cracking.
