FYI: Seloc manual not good for 1990 8hp Johnson J8RESR

FYI, I bought the online Seloc manual supposedly covering my 1990 8hp and it had no information about the rewind starter mechanism. I hope they refund my $20.

I also looked at it for the carburetor and it had very sketchy information on that. Even a simple engine like an 8hp has some complicated repair issues. I can't imagine what purpose is served by a such a publication. Professionals need little or no instruction, but I'm not a professional and I need a step by step format.

I'll try to get my hands on an OMC manual and see if that's the real deal.

Fortunately, a generous forum-member gave me the step by step information that was not in the Seloc manual.

Long story short, my ex neighbor took a lot of my stuff with him when he moved including my OEM manual and a lot of my tools !!!
I also have the seloc manual so went looking through that recently. Awful publication, bad descriptions, things missing etc. Even the illustrations and diagrams are vague and in some cases incorrect.
Better off without it for the most part I found.
Hopefully I will be getting another OEM manual for my birthday or Fathers day. I have given enough hints I think.

No new news there, te last one I saw covered 22 different engines and none of them in any detail.

If money is tight poke around on Ebay , lots of deals there on OMC manuals.
