Gales and Buccaneers were usually identical to JohnnyRudes of one or two years before, but with different paint.

Post the model number and we should be able to match it up with a nearly identical Johnny. My guess is that it is very close to a Johnson CD series engine, but that covers over 10 years and a few differences.

Yup, SD.

You should be able to use almost any parts for a Johnny CD-14, 15 or 16.

Be sure to use a 24:1 fuel mix. Champion J4C plugs gapped at .030 and points set at .020.

Great little engine. Have fun with her. :)

you state for the use of 24:1 fuel mix.. I have read that one can use 50:1 with the Johnson motors, I personally use about 40:1 in my motors... I have read posts that these motors use needle bearings in the important locations... using a little more oil make no difference to me..

Hi salty
The recommended fuel/oil ratio for all pre 1964 OMC outboard is 24:1. Regaurdless of the type of bearings used in the motor. Your motor, if it uses needles only uses them on the big end of the con-rods, the mains are bronze. These older engines like more oil it helps seal the crankshaft, at the ends and center between cylenders. Now since we're not the motor police you can use what ever ratio suits you.
