Re: GAME CUBE PROBLEM

is it overheating? that will cause disc read errors.

The first thing i would do, and its free, is to give it a good cleaning. clean the lens, maybe take a air can and GENTLY blow it out. If that doesnt work, it didnt cost ya anything

Once they stopped leaveing it on so much we never had a problem until one day it wouldnt read disc. I tried some can air - nothng? Any other suggestions?

Re: GAME CUBE PROBLEM

Several things come to mind...at least what I've had to do to keep my youngest's cube alive.

1) Clean the laser lens with a q-tip dipped in alcohol, dirty finger tips tend to hit it with the small CDs

2) make sure there isn't anything that's dropped into the unit blocking the movement of the laser head...somehow food particles dont' work well in the movement

3) make sure the CD is seated properly on the spindle, somehow part of a label got scrunched against the side of the spindle preventing proper seating

4) check the back of the cd to see if it's too scratched to read, surprise, surprise...if the CD is cloudy from being slid across the floor, it won't read.

I put his Cube and PS2 on a power strip. Each night the power strip is turned off and so are the power paks.

Hope this helps
