game fisher structure

i have a early sears gamefisher 12 ft glass boat.<br /><br />i want to install swivel seats to both the rear bench seat and the middle one. <br />how should i secure the seats as the area is enclosed and i have no acess underneath.<br />what is the structure like beneath the exixting seats??<br /><br />thanks in advancs for your comments.

Hey, I have a 1981 14 ft.glass gamefisher. I still have the old sears manual for it and it recommends NOT installing seats on the middle bench of the boat, but recommends installing on the back and front of the boat. I have not installed seats on mine, but I believe that there is foam underneath. I use one of those crazy creek camp chairs with the back and it works great! Cabellas .com has a lot of devices to attach seats to boats. I've seen a bracket type that seems pretty cool and you don't need to drill holes. Good luck , MB

i had the exact same boat.. i put-on those clamp style seats .. the fiberglass has no lip & the clamp always popped off .. very hazardous .. <br /><br />can't mount a swivel to the bench.. it's just thin fiberglass with floatation foam inside...<br /><br />had to dremel out the top of the bench side wall rite close to the top.. dremeled out 1x 1 1/2in. slot .. front & back..an slipped in an epoxied in a 1 x 1 1/2 piece of teak... cut & sand off flush with the sides after cure..<br /><br />now ya have 2 strips of good wood in each seat runnin' the whole width of the bench for mountin' a swivel base... <br /><br />make sure you get it close to the top as possible .. so when you slid / epoxy the wood in put thick epoxy on the lenght of the wood so it adheres to the underside of the bench top ..

Hey Crabbait, when you had your gamefisher, did you like it? I've had mine for about 4 months now and I think that it is an awesome boat. It is just right for the kind of fishing that I do. MB

yea, i liked it .. my first boat.. nothin' to write home about.. just a jon boat.. nothin' special.. ran the heck out of it.. till one day i forgot to unlock the 8 hp crysler.. hit a stump & pretnear jerked the transome off her.. almost sunk.. didn't hurt the prop.. pulled the rope twice & back to the ramp ..
