I got the drive shaft seal out , now I need advice on the shift shaft seal.

Do they leak often? I didnt see any gear oil coming from the shift seal like I did the drive seal, but I thought while I was there just to replace both.

If I have to get it out , is this a hard seal to get out. Looks like there is very limited room to work with.

that looks ruff, you can get it from certified and I would say a dental type pick...they have the picks at harborfreight,

some place around here is a mod for the shift boot using a plastic tube with a flange on it...we need to find that thread

Thanks again MrCrabs!!

Well I have the replacement seal already, but will keep that pic in my 'arsenal' of info.

Just wanted to see how to get it out safely , and reinstall.

Now all the rubber you see is part 24 (oring) and 25 (shift boot), I don't think Im up to the seal yet.
I noticed oil coming from the drive shaft before I replaced it, this shift shaft doesnt have any gear oil coming from it.I was just replacing since I was in there.
Should I just leave it alone? Mabey smear some marine grade grease in there to help?

Thanks again,
