I recently discover my garboard drain is leaking I removed it and it had very little sealant. So I cleaned it up and got some 4200 well the tube was already hard and there is no where else to get it local. I have read that many people use Sikaflex and went I went to buy some I found many different type. Dose anyone have a product number handy? Would this one be good Sikaflex 10.1 fl. oz. White Construction Sealant-90618 at The Home Depot

Home Depot carries 3M 5200 in the small tube.

Not sure on the Sikaflex, but Walmart has Attwood 7200 marine sealant.

West marine carries it. Stick with 4200 if you ever want to remove it again. The 5200 is strong stuff.

Is this the drain on your 1987 SeaRay?

How long & how bad has it been leaking?

Is the drain low enough to be just thru fiberglass or is it screwed to a wooden core transom?

No, you would be looking for Sikaflex 291 Fast Cure Marine Sealant. As JBC is alluding to, you need to inspect the transom to ensure that the leak has not compromised he wood core, if it has one.

Main reason for looking for a alternative is living is SoAZ alludes to no real marine shops. I may look into the Attwood stuff as my new prop will be in today and I really would like to hit the water Sunday. Is the 7200 similar to 4200 or the 5200?

jbcurt00,

Yes this is on my Sea Ray. I have not has this boat for to long but I have noticed the water in my bilge after a trip. The Drain is install in the fiberglass only as far as I can tell. The leak is slow enough to not even kick my bilge on.

While you've got that plug out you may want to consider changing over to one of these:
Academy - T-H Marine Drain Plug

My boat came from the factory with one of these and it's the best plug I've ever had. It screws in and out by hand and the plug is captured in the hole so you don't have to run around looking for where you set the plug down last.... and as you can see they're also inexpensive too.
