Garmin 192C Sounder Conversion

Last winter I installed a Garmin 192C Chartplotter.

I am considering adding a Garmin GSD-21 and a transducer to convert the chartplotter to a sounder.

The cost will be ~$250-500 depending on which transducer I choose (the thru hull transducers are very $$$).

Has anyone done this conversion?
Any/all comment/suggestions welcome.

Re: Garmin 192C Sounder Conversion

I have doen it on 2 Garmins in the past. My current one is the 2006c in which the black box and transom transducer was added.
The units are plug and play, transducer wire running it to the box was the most difficult part of the job.

Very happy with both upgraded units.

Re: Garmin 192C Sounder Conversion

I am having trouble with my current set-up (Humminbird w/ transom mount transducer).
The depth readings are not accurate when under way at high speed.......I get readings like 100-300ft when I am in 10 ft. I have an I/O with rather large trim tabs. Was wondering if the thru hull transducer would be better????
