Garmin Chart Plotters

Hey, I'm looking to buy a new Garmin 500 series chart plotter.

Any words of caution?

Also I've been trying to research which between each plotter with the basic package (ie 535), one in the s series (535s), and an s series with a dual frequency transducer.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the capablities of each of these as far as their ability to give a depth?

Overall I just need something that will give me a depth reading. Having a fish finder isn't by any means high on the priority list.

The 535, now discontinued and replaced by the 536, is a GPS only unit. The 535S, also now discontinued, is a GPS/ sounder combo. If you want sounder capabilites you need to get the 535s, or its replacment the 536S
