So I finally had a chance to swap my old Map440s to an Echo70dv and have some tech questions on how it works with HomePort. I know the copyright stuff is strict and some actions seem "irriversable" during the setup process, so I want to make sure I get it right. I have searched google/forums for days and found most of my questions... except these.

1. Is there a way to get the maps directly on my PC to use in HomePort, instead of having a card inserted? Meaning, I took an SD card an copied the maps direct from the GPS, then put the SD in the PC and opened HomePort. I can see all the maps in HomePort just fine, but its reading from the SD card drive. How can I get the maps to the PC to let it read from the PC? Is that possible?

2. I have read that once I copy these maps to the SD card (which I did already) that they are locked to that "EXACT" SD card forever? Is this true? Meaning, I planned to use this SD card for other things... is that a bad idea? I still see a feature on the GPS to copy the maps again.. can't I just stick another SD card in there if this one is lost/damaged?

I'm sure I will have some follow up questions... I've got tons of waypoints I have not yet loaded on the GPS or HomePort... I just want to get a better understanding of this before I just merging and adding... I have heard that some people accidently erase things... Thanks. Josh
