anyone with experience on the Garmin network displays...and radar, with XM weather data and real time weather maps..?

I am very interested in purchasing this type of setup, and I have looked at some Raymarine units, Furuno, and otehrs.., but the Garmin offers more frills for the money.

Any other line of plotter with radar overlay that may be worth checking out..?

thanks

Re: Garmin networking

Im am familure with some of the Garmin products as I own some of them. They are not the expandable units as far as radar goes.

I also went through this delima when I was looking for a radar system for my boat. I ended up buying the Furuno Navenet 1732 CNT. That was four years ago and not one minute of problem. I think that same model is now the 1733 model. Furuno is, IMHO one of the best on the market. Time proven in the field. Just look around on the commercial and law enforcement boats and see what there using. Im not saying the Garmin is not a good system, but I do believe they were desinged for the pleasure boater, as is Raymarine soooo.....I can tell you that Raymarine has and does have their share of problems with their networking system. I can also say that the Northstar networking systems are good systems but, they are complicated and not very user friendly unless you are pretty technicly enclined. My recommendation would be Furuno, hands down, user friendly, highly expandable, and a great reputation, and lots of power.

If your looking for a radar system and realy dont need something expandable, the JRC units cant be beat.
