Garmin Transducer wire routing

OK, I'm just looking for a little clarification as to the routing of the transducer wire on my Garmin striker 4DV. As you can see the wire comes out of the unit away from the boat so it appears I just loop it back towards the transom and then shoot it up towards my through hole? This will leave a bit of a loop in the wire at the top of the unit and I'm afraid that may get hung up on a stick or some debris. Is there a trick I'm missing or am I supposed to route it back and under the mounting bracket? The instructions don't really tell me and I cant find a good picture on line with this unit mounted on a fiberglass boat with a swim platform. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Mine did the same thing (echoMAP 43) - I thought that was odd as well. I haven't heard of any tricks, but they do give you the through-hole bracket and then 2 additional wire brackets - I ended up adding a third wiring bracket as low as it would go so that the wire would be closer to the boat - there is still a loop or space that the wire makes over the transducer...

Everything has been fine with it (used about 6 times). The only issue was there was a rooster tail of water that shot straight up from the transducer. Garmin makes a little splash guard you can purchase but I just made one from an old cutting board - all has been well since installing that.

Good deal, thanks T-28. I did the same thing with an additional bracket but I used a hull saver block for the mount so I just screwed the new wire bracket into the seaboard block.

Awesome! Glad it worked out. I'm not sure why they do have it pointed that way but I guess there is some rhyme or reason.
