gas ball gas tank

i have a 9.8 mercury gamefisher motor and the motor runs good but when the ball goes soft i stall out unless i keep pumping the ball its a 1998

Sounds like fuel restriction on suction side of pump.Check tank pick-up and fuel filter.possibly defective purge bulb

You might want to take the hose off the between the ball and the tank, and if you have an air hose blow the line out. If you have a filter between the ball and tank try cleaning it out.
