gas in oil

1996 4.3 volvo drive after 5 to 6 hours off running oil is up about quarter of an inch on stick with gas put a complete carb kit in it and still same thing it has an electric fuel pump is it possible that pump is putting out to much preasure the boat runs fine when running slight hesatation off the line other than that lots of power starts fine its a holley 2 barrel carb any suggestions.

If the Carb was dropping that much gas, While Running.......
Your Sparkplugs should be Black,+ Carbon Fouled........

And,...... I'd find that hard to believe....... The motor Couldn't Run.....
1/4" is about a 1/2 Qt. of Gas,...... Passed the rings of a running motor,..??....

I dunno.. It's possible.. but it'd be unsual when running.. When running, you'd be buring off that gas and if it was that rich, you'd be washin the cylinder walls.

Are you sure you're checking the boats oil in the same position/elevation? Also check it after cool down.. It can take a while for the oil to wash down to the pan...

Now I have seen a leaking carb drop fuel into the cylinder and eventully down in to the case, but that motor didn't run.
