Hello, I'm new to boating and ownership now.
I bought a 1992 bayliner capri 18ft. last weekend. The guy that sold it put a bit of work into it. He started it up for me, started on first try, engine was clean, new sparks, cables, new batts, simi new interior, new bimini top, ect.
The problem started when, I went to fill the boat with gas. I smelled gas after towing it home. I could not figure it out for a while. It turns out the the fuel sender was not completely tight and was leaking gas.
My concern is: The fuel sender is now tight and I still see fuel in the center compartment after the fix.
Could this be from the gas that leaked the previous day or a possible tank leak?
Any help will be appreciated. I know I should have done a better inspection on the boat.
Any idea what it would cost to replace the tank if need be?
